AUTUMN
I love to walk down a leafy lane.
Now that Autumn is here again.
The leaves are falling oh so fast.
Leaving a carpet of gold on the ground.
I love to watch just once again.
The sun making patterns on the window pane.
The Autumn breeze blows gently by.
Not even waiting for you and I.

THE COAL MAN
When I was small I used to wait. For the coal man to come through the garden gate.
I lived in a tenement house at the time.
And all those stairs he had to climb.
He came round with his horse and cart.
The name of his horse was Sammy Smart.
Coal, Coal he used to shout.
And all the children came running out.
When they heard the Coal Man shout.
People came round with their buckets and spades.
To pick up the manure the horse had made.
They would put it on their gardens so fair.
To feed the rhubarb growing there.

SPRINGTIME
Springtime is the time of year.
When everything is bright and clear.
Evil Jack Frost has been around.
Leaving a carpet of white on the ground.
Snowdrops, Daffodils and Marguerites too
Are peeping through for us to view.
Birds are flying on the wing.
Getting ready for their song to sing
The pale blue moon up in the sky.
Telling us it's passing by.

THE DOVE.
Each morn at ten o' clock.
There's a dove sat on my chimney pot.
Cooing away for all she's worth.
Never caring who she disturbs.
She came to me each day last year.
Never wanting to go away.
But one day she had to fly
To a far away place.
where it's warm and dry.
I miss that little dove.
The one I had grown to love.

THE RAG AND BONE MAN
When I was small we used to greet.
The rag and Bone man who came down our street.
With his horse and cart and bright shiny balloons.
Oh he couldn't come too soon.
Ragabones, Ragabones he used to shout.
And all the children came running out.
Bring your jam jars and any old rags.
It doesn't matter if some are in bags.
A pretty balloon I will give to you all.
And a windmill that looks very tall.

THE TORTOISE
I was working in the garden just the other day.
When I heard a small voice say oh please look my way.
I then looked up and then looked down and then around.
Then I saw a tortoise on his back upon the ground.
I picked it up so gently. Oh sir you are so kind.
I think I've lost my way and I'm slowly going blind.
I put it down so gently in a leafy grassy place.
And then I stood and watched as it slowly walked away

EVERYDAY BUSTLE
I love to climb upon a hill on a lovely summers day.
I love to watch the seagulls as they fly across the bay.
I love to watch the cars and buses that goes by every day.
Lorries and coaches and motorbikes as they all go on their way.
I love to look across the fields and smell the new mown hay.
I love to see the horses and cows and sheep and the little lambs at play.
The scent of flowers such lovely hues. all glistening with dew.
I love to hear the chirping of the birds up in the trees.
And watch the leaves all dancing in the summer breeze.
I love to hear the buzzing bees all busy in their hives.
With all these lovely things to see it's great to be alive.
